Why this site exists

Live Oak Cannabis is an independent, non-commercial project. Nothing here is for sale, and no one pays to be featured. It exists for three reasons.

Educate

Gather the history, the science, and the plain facts about cannabis in one calm, well-sourced place, so anyone can get honest answers without the hype or the fear.
Destigmatize

The shame attached to cannabis was manufactured, mostly out of politics and fear. The way to undo it is not to argue louder but to teach clearly, and let the facts do the work.
Steer toward the science

Pull the public conversation back toward what the evidence actually shows, benefits and risks alike, and away from decades of slogans on every side.

The short version

A calm, honest place that didn’t exist yet

Most of what people find when they go looking for cannabis information is trying to sell them something, scare them, or score a political point. That is a strange situation for a plant that was ordinary medicine for most of human history, and that a growing share of doctors, veterans, seniors, and ordinary patients now use openly.

This project is one person’s attempt to build the resource that was missing: cited to primary sources, non-partisan, accessible by design, and honest about the risks as well as the promise. If it helps a nurse, a grandparent, or a skeptical neighbor understand the plant a little better, it has done its job.

What we hold ourselves to

Cite everything. Claims link to primary sources, and we say plainly when the evidence is thin or unsettled.
Non-partisan. Cannabis reform is not a left or right issue here. We follow the facts, not a party.
Nothing for sale. No ads, no sponsored placements, no data sold. Analytics, if any, are privacy-first and cookieless.
Accessible by design. The site is built and tested to WCAG standards, with a high-contrast mode and full keyboard support.
Kept current. Menus refresh daily, and the science behind our articles is reviewed on a schedule, so the dates you see are real.
